How to check the working efficiency of the shock absorber?

Mar 08, 2022

Here's how to check the efficiency of the shock absorber:

1. You can drive at a low speed and then brake suddenly. If you find that the car shakes a lot and the human body feels uncomfortable, then there is a problem with the shock absorber.

2. Press the bumper firmly, then release. If the car has 2-3 jumps, the shock absorbers are working well.

3. Stop the car after driving 10km on the road with poor road conditions, and touch the shock absorber shell with your hand. If it is not hot enough, it means that there is no resistance inside the shock absorber, and the shock absorber does not work. At this point, appropriate lubricating oil can be added, and then the test can be carried out. If the casing is hot, the shock absorber is short of oil, and enough oil should be added. Otherwise, the shock absorber fails.

4. Remove the shock absorber and stand it upright, and clamp the lower end connecting ring on the vise, and pull and compress the shock absorber rod several times. At this point, there should be stable resistance, and the resistance of pulling up should be greater than the resistance of pressing down. If the resistance is unstable or there is no resistance, it may be due to lack of oil inside the shock absorber or damage to the valve parts, which should be repaired or replaced.
